Friday Favorites: Atlanta, food, happenings!

Friday Favorites from The Cardigan Kitchen

I’m feeling kind of cranky today, but after work I’m headed to oyster happy hour and plan on turning this frown upside down. Let’s get to those favorites!

Favorite food picture: these doughnut holes from Simply Done Donuts. Simply Done is a food truck offering customizable doughnut holes! How can you not love that? I had them last Sunday at Caffeine & Octane, a monthly car show. We split these with my wonderful in-laws who were here for a visit.

Favorite thing to listen to: Currently on a Hamilton Mixtape kick. If you like Hamilton and haven’t added this to your iTunes library yet you NEED to! The covers are good, but I especially love the originals that were created for the Mixtape like “Immigrants” with K’naan, Sno tha Product, Riz MC, and Residente. Admittedly, I had only heard K’naan’s music before this song and I’m so glad to be acquainted with these artists now, too.

Favorite food event that I’m not going to but thought you should know about: Rise Up! Tailgate at TAP. TAP midtown is a gastropub in Midtown offering delicious eats and boasts a fantastic patio. This weekend they’re inviting us to tailgate before the Falcons’ Playoff game with enticing specials like 50 cent wings and the addition of hot dogs and nachos to the brunch menu. Drink specials include $3 Founders IPA bottles and a free 6oz beer back with the purchase of any shot. In the same family, Parish in Inman Park will have Falcons-themed cocktails like the “Red and Black” and “Rise Up Mimosa”. Wear your Falcons apparel and get 10% off!

Favorite weekend activity: the Callanwolde Arts Festival.

Favorite thing to daydream about: that time I went to Iceland in April 2012 and played with Icelandic horses in the snow. Magical. Take me back!
