How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Jon and I don’t typically do something big, but we do like to do something. Valentine’s Day is a fun excuse to celebrate the person you love- and eat lots of chocolate. Whether that person is your husband, wife, best friend, or even yourself, there’s always someone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with.
We’re lucky to live in a city with so many different options for V-Day. You can celebrate as big or low-key as you’d like! My husband and I will be celebrating with the Love Stories of Oakland Cemetery tour followed by a dinner with one of Storico Fresco’s creations.
For those of you who like to get out, here are my top three suggestions. Whether you’re looking to party, keep it refined or looking for something different…there’s something on here for you and your Valentine!
Dinner at Common Quarter
Common Quarter is the epitome of all things good and local. From the art on the walls created by local artists, to their tables crafted by men seeking to move out of homelessness and of course, a menu full of dishes that use local ingredients when possible. The menu changes seasonally, but lately I’ve found myself smitten with their Frogmore Stew, a light combination of shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn and a tomato broth. Perfect for the chilly nights!
They’re also running a contest on Facebook, RIGHT NOW. You can win a chance to dine at this cozy “Cupid’s Corner.” Go check it out!
Afternoon Tea at Corso Coffee
Corso Coffee is a lovely shop in the Shops Buckhead Atlanta, and the perfect spot to get a break from the Buckhead hustle bustle. February 11 – 14 they’re offering an afternoon tea with an Italian spin. In addition to your pot of tea, you’ll get to munch on the Del Corso sandwich, macarons and a chef’s choice of pastries. Make it extra fancy by adding on the Veuve Clicqout!
Mariachi and Margaritas at Tacos & Tequilas
Say “te amo” (I love you) over Mexican noms at Tacos & Tequilas , with three locations in the Atlanta area. For $45, a couple can enjoy an appetizer, two entrees, one dessert and a bottle of wine or two margaritas! Ay, caramba! That sounds like a fun Valentine’s Day.
Bonus: Get your sweet a sweet from one of these bakeries!
I wrote this article for About Atlanta featuring the top 10 bakeries in Atlanta. As you know, I love sweets and eat plenty of them, so you can probably trust my opinion.
Whatever you do for Valentine’s Day, make sure you take time to give a little love to your loved ones. Hugs, kisses, sweet words – whichever works best for you (and them). I hope it’s a sweet one!
